Our parks. Our Village. Our future!
Parks are powerful. They are essential infrastructure to all thriving communities, including ours.
We find ourselves amid an unprecedented groundswell of renewed support for parks and public spaces, both in Miami Shores Village and across the nation. We believe in the power of our parks to transform our Village, and that our parks, trails, and greenways are more than just amenities. They define us.
What is a parks master plan?
A parks and recreation system master plan is a guiding document that seeks to evaluate, analyze, and strategically plan the long-term development of a community’s parks and recreation system to ensure that it is meeting the identified goals and objectives of the Village, and is providing equitable, sufficient, and efficient services to its residents..
Why is it important (to me)?
Parks are a central component of our community's public realm, creating an interconnected network of public spaces that link together the Village's neighborhoods, destinations, and commercial areas. A well-designed and managed public realm—including parks, trails, and natural areas—serves as the framework for a community's overall quality of life and economic well-being, as demonstrated by multiple studies and robust data.
Great parks don't happen by accident; they require forward-looking yet practical plans to guide their development, ensuring they deliver the maximum possible benefit to the community over time
What is the process?
The approach being utilized to develop this master plan is both collaborative and linear in nature, beginning with discovery and visioning at the macro-level, which will ultimately inform the site and program-specific recommendations at the micro-level.
We are working intentionally and diligently to build consensus amongst the project stakeholders and the community by incorporating multiple engagement points in each key phase of the project. We encourage you to get involved!
